Industry icon Zig Zigler said, “Today be thankful and think how rich you are. Your family is priceless, your time is gold, and your health is your wealth.” Those are powerful words and a great reminder for all of us. We learn the words fun and thankful very early on in life. We’re told that enjoying something means finding pleasure in something. However, when we think about life, we often think about our work, goals, or responsibilities. While all of these are important, we can sometimes forget that a big part of life is to enjoy it while it’s still here. Enjoying life means taking advantage of what we have around us—such as our friends, family, health, and hobbies. Enjoying life means being aware of the present moment and trying to experience all of the things that make us happy to the fullest extent. Enjoying life also means slowing down sometimes and putting what we have to do and where we have to go on pause and just be. When we’re so invested in the hustle and bustle of life, it can be hard to list joy as a top priority. Being thankful shouldn’t just be a temporary phase of life but a necessity that you seek to experience daily. So today, be thankful. You are rich, my friend, in ways that cannot be measured.
Something to Think About
It’s easy to get caught up in work and life and to spend each day just trying to get through it. But if you are focused on the end result, it’s easy to miss life’s little things along the way. Someone once said, take time to smell the roses. Did you ever stop to think about the person who said that and what they were talking about? For me, I imagine a gardener working hard all day long, pulling weeds and trimming, completely focused on getting the job done, without stopping to see that they are surrounded by beautiful things and beautiful smells. What they do brings beauty to the world. How sad to think they would miss it in their haste to do their job.
Take time to smell the roses in your life this week.
