Are you living life in the zone? What does it feel like to be in the zone? One of the strongest signs of being in the zone is a sense of freedom and of authenticity. When we are doing something that we love and are naturally good at, we are much more likely to feel centered in our true sense of self – to be who we feel we truly are.
Billie Jean King described being in the zone this way: “It’s a perfect combination of violent action taking place in an atmosphere of total tranquility. When it happens, I want to stop the match and grab the microphone and shout, ‘That’s what it’s all about.’ Because it is. It’s not the big prize I’m going to win at the end of the match, or anything else. It’s just having done something that’s totally pure and having experienced the perfect emotion, and I’m always sad that I can’t communicate that feeling, right at the moment it’s happening.”
When we are in our element, we feel we are doing what we are meant to be doing and being who we’re meant to be. We don’t always know how to get there, but you will know when you are there.
Something to Think About
Living in the zone is a state of mind, which is defined by a sense of calmness, as well as a heightened sense of awareness and focus. Actions seem effortless and there is an increased belief that anything is possible.
Reflect on your life and ask yourself, are you living in the zone? If not, why not, and what needs to change?
